Peripheral
Joints Treatment.
- Etiology
of Pain (Sources of Pain)
1.
Joint Cartilage destruction - Synovial fluid deficiency
- 2.
Muscles attached to the joint - moving joint. Muscle dysfunction
can lead to joint dysfunction and pain. (Example: Quadriceps
femoris attached to Patella)
-
- 3.
Muscle tendons and ligaments, joint capsule - strengthening
the joint. Weakness these strictures can lead to joint instability.
-
- 4.
Nerves dysfunction - sensory nerves dysfunction can create and
maintain neurogenic inflammation thru Dorsal Root Reflex.
-
- Treatment
approaches:
1.
Viscosupplementation: intra joint injections of Hyalgan, Sinovisc,
Orthovisc, and so forth.
- 2.
To restore muscle function: location of Motor points (points
where nerve is entering in the muscle and regulates the muscle
function) using nerve locator follow by needling and infiltration
with local anesthetic. Local anesthetic can stabilize and reset
nerve function.
-
- 3.
Muscle tendons and ligaments, joint capsule - Prolotherapy (proven
by number of studies treatment include injections to strengthen
the ligaments and tendons)
-
- 4.
Nerve treatment
includes - location of nerve using nerve
locator and ultrasound follow by needling and infiltration with
local anesthetic. Local anesthetic can stabilize and reset the
nerve function. Pulse radiofrequency treatment can restore normal
nerve function. One treatment usually effective for about one
year.
-
- Successful
treatment is only possible in all of these approaches are used.
